Sustainably Producing Whole Foods That Enliven The Palate And Rejuvenate The Land In Green Lake County Since 2007
The farm is growing. Our third season is now behind us and our passion for this life only grows. The great task of building the soil continues. We have upgraded our small compost heaps to a large windrow of beautiful compost. This in turn is generously applied as we shape the enriched soil into raised beds in order to reduce compaction, preserve moisture, and maximize our growing space. In 2009 we grew our produce on roughly a half-acre. We are in the process of moving toward our short term goal of a full acre of production to expand our 22 member CSA to 40 members and to supply our farm stands at Black Bird Point and the Princeton Flea Market. We grow over 30 different vegetables(and many more individual varieties), over a dozen herbs and a bounty of greens. We've come to know peoples' favorites, and we always get giddy when the seed catalogues come out, as they give us a chance to branch out and try new varieties.

In addition to our annual beds, the perennials plots are filling in with blueberries, hazelnuts, black raspberries, peaches, pears, grapes and chestnuts. We see the art of patience in these lovely specimens, as they hold within them the promise of such delicious fruits and nuts!
A small herd of calves is our new hired help at the farm fertility department. With their complex, four-chambered stomachs, the calves will eat hay from the farm, break it down, and return it to the soil as fertilizer. Our goal for the farm has always been to produce more than it consumes; we are learning with each passing month that fulfilling this goal requires real dedication!
We are grateful to the many folks whose toil in the garden this past season contributed greatly to this end.
Community is redefined in the garden.
